Anti-steroidogenic activity of floral extract of Thespesia populnea Corr. in mouse ovary.
Anti-steroidogenic activity of various extracts of T. populnea was screened in female albino mice. The weight of the uterus and ovaries were reduced significantly and the cholesterol and ascorbic acid content in ovaries were significantly elevated due to the treatment with extract of T. populnea. The significant inhibition of delta 5, 3 beta hydroxy steroid dehydrogenase and glucose-6-phosphate...
متن کاملIn Vitro α-Amylase Inhibitory Activity of the Leaves of Thespesia populnea
Postprandial hyperglycemia is a prime characteristic of diabetes mellitus and has been a focus in the therapy for diabetes. One of the therapeutic approaches which involve decreasing hyperglycemia aims at inhibiting the enzyme α-amylase. The leaves of T. populnea were studied for the presence of amylase inhibitors. The fractions obtained by successive fractionation using solvents of varying pol...
متن کاملIsolation of an elastase inhibitor, (+)-gossypol from the bark of Thespesia populnea plant
Bioassay guided purification of methanolic extract of the bark of the plant, Thespesia populnea yielded a naphthalene derivative, (+)-gossypol (1). The structure of compound, (+)-gossypol has been established based on its physical and spectral data (UV, IR, H & C NMR and Mass). The compound has been shown moderate elastase inhibition activity when compared with control compound, ursolic acid.
متن کاملSynergistic activity of methanolic extract of Thespesia populnea (Malvaceae) flowers with oxytetracycline
Thespesia populnea (Malvaceae) is a large tree found in tropical regions and coastal forests of India. The bark, leaves, and flowers are useful in cutaneous infections such as scabies, psoriasis, eczema, ringworm, guinea worm and the leaves of this plant used as antiinflammatory for poultice as a folk medicine (Chang et al., 2002). Various parts of T. populnea are found to possess useful medici...
متن کاملDataset on analysis of dyeing property of natural dye from Thespesia populnea bark on different fabrics
The natural dyes separated from plants are of gaining interest as substitutes for synthetic dyes in food and cosmetics. Thespesia populnea (T. populnea) is widely grown plant and used in the treatment of various diseases. This study was aimed to separate natural dye from T. populnea bark and analysis of its dyeing property on different fabrics. In this investigation pharmacognostic study was ca...
